Location: Harare (with frequent travel to Victoria Falls)
Reporting To: Operations Manager
Role Purpose:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective management of the company’s growing fleet of buses and small cars across its operations in Harare and Victoria Falls. This role encompasses all aspects of fleet management, including maintenance, scheduling, dispatch, driver management, regulatory compliance, and ensuring the availability of safe and reliable vehicles to support the company’s tour and transfer services. The Logistics Manager will play a crucial role in optimizing resource utilization, minimizing operational disruptions, and contributing to high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fleet maintenance schedules for all vehicles in both Harare and Victoria Falls.
- Oversee the servicing, repairs, and upkeep of the fleet, ensuring adherence to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
- Manage and track maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and vehicle history.
- Participate in the planning and execution of fleet expansion and renewal strategies.
- Develop and optimize vehicle scheduling and dispatch processes to meet operational demands in both Harare and Victoria Falls.
- Coordinate vehicle allocation for tours, transfers, and other operational requirements, considering factors such as vehicle capacity, location, and driver availability.
- Utilize or implement fleet management software to improve scheduling efficiency and track vehicle movements.
- Ensure effective communication with operations teams and drivers regarding schedules and any changes.
- Collaborate with Human Resources in the recruitment, training, and performance management of drivers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant driver licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure the well-being of passengers and drivers.
- Manage vehicle registration, insurance, and other necessary documentation.
- Develop and manage the logistics budget, including fleet maintenance, fuel, insurance, and other related expenses.
- Analyze fleet operational costs and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for optimization.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management regarding fleet management strategies.
Qualifications, Experience and other desirable attributes:
- First level degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent. A relevant professional qualification in logistics or transport management is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fleet management, logistics, or transport operations, preferably within the tourism and hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with Zimbabwean transport regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in fleet management software.
