Assistant Accountant 

Introduction

Applications are invited from suitably qualified personnel to fill in the position of Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate will be based at Montclair Resort and Conference.

The position reports to the General Manager.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:           

  • Budgets preparation and reviews
  • Cash flow management
  • Prepares and interprets financial accounts for management
  • Maintenance of asset register
  • Consolidates audit files
  • Manages departmental associates’ performance through, inter-alia, coaching and continuous training
  • Implements and monitors effective financial and internal controls within the business unit
  • Liaises with statutory bodies and manages statutory accounts effectively
  • Takes a leading role in the preparation of routine business, accounting and audit reviews
  • Facilitates periodic internal and external audits

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • First level Degree in Accounting/Finance from a recognised institution
  • Possession of a full professional qualification – ACCA/CIS or equivalent
  • Possession of an MBA/MBL or equivalent is an added advantage
  • Minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of OPERA and ACCPAC systems
  • Good planning and leadership skills
  • Demonstrable cost management skills
  • Should be a person of unquestionable integrity
  • Well-groomed and possess good customer service skills
